Pedestrian zone
With a length of 700 metres and a width of up to 20 metres, the City Mile runs through the Hanseatic city.
It is fresh, bright and modern. At the same time, it incorporates an important part of the city's history with the highly visible Hanseatic band, which depicts the list of all the cities of the Hanseatic League.
Along the shopping mile, Wesel's retail trade offers a good mix of sectors with expert advice in around 200 shops. The pedestrian zone invites you to take a stroll, offers play equipment for the little ones and a wide range of catering options for a break in between.
The offer leaves nothing to be desired. The large chain stores and owner-managed shops characterise the streetscape and make for a varied shopping trip. Goods for everyday needs can be found here as well as high-quality clothing, books, electrical goods, consumer electronics, gift items and a wide range of service providers. Along the shopping street, numerous street cafés, ice cream parlours and restaurants offer the opportunity to enjoy and linger.
There is always a suitable parking space near the shopping facilities in the city centre, so you can easily reach everything on foot. And parking in our public car parks in Wesel is even free of charge on weekdays from 4 pm and at weekends!
And as a Fairtrade city, Wesel has also been campaigning for sustainable, fair trade for many years.
