Roman-Lippe-Route

More than 470 kilometres of route from Detmold to Xanten.

The Lippe, the longest river in North Rhine-Westphalia, has had its own riverside cycle route since 2013 in the form of the Roman-Lippe Route. The route offers everything that cycling enthusiasts, lovers of Roman culture and nature lovers can experience from the comfort of their saddle between Detmold and Xanten. The route leads from the heights of the Teutoburg Forest in Detmold to the mouth of the river in Wesel and on to the old Roman town of Xanten through a total of 27 municipalities.

In addition to the 295 km long core route, the twelve themed loops with an additional 184 km offer maximum individual usability. The route can be experienced in six day stages, for example, but is also ideal for day trips thanks to the "loop system".
