Boxteler Railway

On the trail of the legendary Boxtel railway

The "Boxteler Railway Route" leads over 155 km along the historic railway line from Wesel to Boxtel in the Netherlands. The starting point in Wesel is at the railway station.

Take a very special journey back in time to the heyday of railway history in the German-Dutch border region. Individual information boards along the route tell the exciting background story of the Boxtel railway, which was particularly popular at the beginning of the 20th century as part of the long-distance route from St. Petersburg to London. At the time, it was not only the fastest east-west connection between London via Berlin to St. Petersburg, but also enjoyed particular popularity due to its use by European royalty and the Russian tsarist family.
