Parking

By car:

If you are travelling on the left bank of the Rhine towards Wesel, take the "Alpen" exit from the A57 onto the B58, which will take you directly to Wesel and then further towards Schermbeck and the A3 and A31 junctions.

Coming from the north or via the A3 motorway, the best way to reach Wesel is via the "Hamminkeln" exit. Coming from the south, take the A3 motorway exit "Wesel".

 

Parking:

Our municipal parking guidance system will guide you conveniently to more than 1,300 parking spaces in the city centre. The first 30 minutes of parking are free of charge for short-term parkers. The visitor-friendly parking regulations also allow free parking from 4 pm. At weekends, parking is even free around the clock.

You will always find a suitable parking space in the car parks, multi-storey car parks and underground car parks, with easy access to the shopping facilities and amenities in Wesel.

 

By train:

Wesel station is centrally located in the city centre and only a few minutes away from the pedestrian zone. It is fully accessible with ramps and a lift to the tracks. You can reach it from Duisburg/Oberhausen, Arnhem/Emmerich, Bocholt as well as with a direct connection from Cologne main station several times an hour with the RE 5, RE 19 and RE 49 lines.

Other services on offer around the station include a large number of Park & Ride car parks and the "Gleis 31" bicycle station with repair service, hire and secure storage facilities for bicycles.

The bus station is also located right next to the railway station. There is a good network of bus routes to all parts of the city. The X-bus routes connect the districts on the left bank of the Rhine and many other destinations on the Lower Rhine, such as Xanten, Goch or Kleve, regularly and quickly with our district town.

By aircraft:

Thanks to its proximity to Düsseldorf International Airport and Weeze Airport, Wesel can be reached quickly and easily by plane from all over the world.

Düsseldorf International Airport is only three quarters of an hour from Wesel by car. There is also a direct train connection available. Weeze Airport is around 45 kilometres far away.

Wesel itself has a sports airfield close to the city centre. Sports aeroplanes, helicopters, self-launching motor gliders, gliders, microlight aircraft and free balloons are allowed to take off and land at the "Römerwardt" airfield with the registration "EDLX".

 

By boat:

Throughout its history, the Hanseatic city of Wesel has benefited from its favourable location on the Rhine and Lippe waterways. Since the last century, the Wesel-Datteln Canal has also connected the Rhine with the Dortmund-Ems Canal.

Moorings can be rented at the Wesel marina on the Rhine via the RTG Wesel and the Wesel Yacht Club. The entire facility has been awarded the "Blue Flag" for its high quality standards. Wesel city centre and the Rheinaue Park with the lake Aue are just a few minutes' walk from the harbour.

River Cruise jetty on the Rhine promenade:

River cruises can moor at the jetty on the Rhine promenade in Wesel. The location in the shadow of the historic railway bridge is ideal for a walk through Wesel's Rhine meadows or a visit to the nearby city centre.

You can hire a rental bike from the neighbouring Welcome Hotel and explore the city of Wesel by bike. There invites a playground, the mini golf course at the Aue Lake, restaurants and, from summer 2024, the new „RheinBad“ indoor and outdoor swimming pool to spend your leisure time on site.

 

The river cruise jetty is located on the right bank of the Rhine at Rhine kilometre 815.3 and is owned by Viking River Cruises. If interested and available, it can be hired out to third parties. Enquiries should be addressed to the "Locks & Docks" department at Viking Cruises.
